My name is Tim and I am currently a first year Software Development student who is studying at the College of the North Atlantic. Currently in this program, I am developing and learning strong knowledge in HTML and Python, with more to come in the next couple of years. My whole life I have been a “techier” person; the person that would be called to help fix grandma’s desktop, or the constant “Tim, come here fix the Wi-Fi!” Over the past three years, I have gained a growing interest in creating software, by taking python classes in high school and completing different internships. From the knowledge I learned, I knew I wanted to be a software developer.
My passion in the realm of technology is the problem-solving element. I love having complex problems that need fixing because when I fix the problem, I like the satisfaction that comes afterwards. In the real world, I have a passion for making people happy and being a nice person. I like when I can put a smile on someone’s face after they have had a rough day or help people out with any problems they may be facing. Each day I strive to be a better person, as I have the passion to do so.
Over my years of coding, I have had many accomplishments, both big and small. My proudest accomplishment was completing the TCP program in high school. The TCP program was a 3-year pilot program that teaches highschoolers the fundamentals of coding in Python. The program gets students prepared for technology courses and jobs in the future. Doing this program allows students to sign up and start getting internships at an early age, which helped tremendously for my future as I was able to get two internships before finishing high school. One of my internships was completed at CNA, where me and five other students got the opportunity to design a website for the town of Pasadena. Another internship was completed with TechNL, where me and two other students got to work together to create a buoy coordinate scrapper for Virtual Marine.
I am currently looking for an internship where I can apply my current programming skills and learn new skills in both software development and the workforce. I would hope to work in either the front-end or the back-end of a project where I can contribute my skills in a real world setting.
